The company was originally founded in 1981 under the name TTK and then manufactured cassette tapes. In 1985 they changed their name to TDK but after a trademark conflict they changed their name to TCL which stands for Telephone Communication Limited.
TCL Technology a Chinese electronics company that designs, develops and produces a variety of consumer products such as televisions, mobile phones, air conditioners, washing machines and refrigerators.
In 2019, TCL was the second largest manufacturer of televisions. TCL has also manufactured mobile phones under various brands, eg Palm for HP and Blackberry. Since 2019, they manufacture mobile phones under their own TCL brand.
